Linkz brings opera to Italian school children
Fast-growing British start-up Linkz-IM Ltd. has a new take on the expression “bringing coal to Newcastle” by taking opera to Italian schoolchildren. The tech firm has completely transformed old static course materials into something fun and interactive, using a highly innovative way of linking printed material to smartphones.
Linkz, the smart phone app that gives users access to digital content, has provided its technology to Italian schools operatic association Europa InCanto. 15,000 Linkz-activated course books have been distributed to children enrolled in the opera-singing course, enabling them to bring theMarriage of Figaro alive. Using their standard smart phones the children have access to video, audio content and song sheets, making the learning of opera an even more engaging and exciting learning experience.
As most of the course material is hosted digitally alongside print, the project is helping keep the schools’ print costs down. With high levels of scans being downloaded by the participating schools, the Linkz app is offering Italian children a different and unique way of learning. Furthermore, it also allows the association to change content when they want, and to analyse what is most popular amongst the kids.
“They are highly delighted that they can use Linkz to provide songs and information to the audience directly, reducing their print costs and adding to the value of what they do,” said a spokesman from Europa InCanto.
