The BrandChannel talks about how large consumer food companies are trying to meet their customer needs as part of the GMA’s SmartLabel initiative. We think this is a great idea – consumers today want to know more about the products they buy, consume and use. The SmartLabel program uses QR codes on packages – and while QRs perform really well if the end-user is kept in mind, we think diverting the UPC/EAN barcode is a more interesting way to communicate with consumers.
